What has changed?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We now have a working VST! To use it, you need to make sure that realityVST.dll (32-bit) or realityVST64.dll (64-bit) is visible to your DAW application (Sonar, Cubase, Logic, Live, etc.). When in doubt, use the 64-bit version first, unless you know that you are running a 32-bit DAW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many issues from previous betas have been resolved, the most important being latency! In both standalone and VST operation, latency is extremely low.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another cool thing is all 16-bit audio dithering is gone, so it is now up to your audio driver or DAW to decide what to do with the 32-bit audio that is passed along from Reality! This change seems to remove a certain 1990s haziness that was prevalent before, only to provide a new level of clarity in the sound. We may decide to bring the 16-bit dithering back as an option for people who want a more period-correct 20th century sound, let me know if you miss it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, each of the 16 instruments are separated into tracks within your DAW, and you can apply reverb\/chorus individually to each!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favorite fix of all, is being able to render offline within a DAW. Previous betas only worked in real-time. For standalone mode, Reality is always real-time, but in your DAW as a VST plugin, you often want to do a quick mixdown and show your friends what you did. Who wants to wait for 5 minutes to render a 5-minute song in real-time, when you can do it in just a few seconds?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In standalone mode, the toolbar’s play button now works. If the bankset has a playlist of midi sequences, it will proceed to play them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
